Cozy: feeling of comfort, warmth, relaxation
Αποκoσμο
(apόkosmo): eerie, unearthly, uncanny
My art seeks to capture a duality: the cozy warmth of familiarity intertwined with the eerie unease of the unknown. This contrast mirrors my own experience of searching for comfort while growing familiar with the unsettling. Through my work, I want to evoke a feeling of belonging with subtle uncanny elements, inviting viewers to embrace both comfort and discomfort.
Creating is a grounding process for me— a way to express myself, and a way to process the confusions of life. As an illustrator, I focus on capturing characters suspended in time, and creating symbolic assemblages where floating objects and elements form a narrative. Nature also finds its way into my work, especially hares, whose uncanny appearance and symbolic ties to the cycle of life fascinate me. I favor earthy tones and sketch-like textures, using pencil, pen, and digital mediums to build a sense of raw, tactile depth.
In my ceramic practice I strive to combine materiality with decorative aesthetics, blending the tangible with the ethereal. I predominantly work with naturalistic themes—forests, mushrooms, hares—using the organic quality of clay to echo the natural world. Each piece combines practical function with decorative allure, aiming to stir something subconscious in the viewer.

Moving forward, I
want to deepen my exploration of ceramics, further define my illustrative
style, and continue to balance the cozy with the uncanny in all that I create.
A little bit about me:
My name is Sage, I was born in Greece were I received some classical fine art training, currently I’m based in Rotterdam where I study illustration at the Willem de Kooning Academie. In my free time I enjoy hanging out with my friends over some good home-cooked food, touching grass and when on my own I am always listening to music.
